I'm fairly new to smoking. I've done the occasional Thanksgiving turkey breast on an old cheap Brinkman. I've since got rid of that and bought myself a nice, small webber for grilling - steaks, burgers, etc. I've been scoping out smokers and heave read that propane offers some good flavor with stable temp control. I've decided on the 2 door, 30" Masterbuilt. I thought I got a good deal at Kohls on line after getting 40% off the sale price. I've read some Amazon reviews and said that thing would need some mods, so I was looking to get as close to a deal around $100 as possible, to stick some money into building this thing up a bit.

I've already checked out some mods on this site. Ace had a nice write up as well as others on the XL model. I'tt try to post pics with how far I get with mine.

I will be looking for lots advice and tips as I want to use this thing every weekend this winter. How to prepare meats and what methods to use for what critters and cuts.

I've been homebrewing beer for about 7 years. Before my kids were born, and I head less demanding job, I was doing 20 batches a year. I'm down to about 5 a year now. I used to spend a fair amount of time on the HB forums learning and helping others. I'm hoping to have the same positive experience here. Hopefully this smoking project can keep me busy through the winter and maybe get away  from football a little.
