Been lurking for a few months, and with the encouragement of Texas-Hunter, figured I'd introduce myself.
By the username you might guess I'm a old computer geek, easier to guess I'm into bbq. If interested, I'll explain the name futher, but won't bore most of you with the details other than to say it means "the BBQ device". Open to interpretation as to whether that's me or the cooker!
I'm a KCBS CBJ, wanna-be competitor, and have been around bbq seemingly all my life. Some catering in the family history, but for me mostly just enjoying the smoke and good times.
Originally from FL, but in NC for 30 yrs now. My first awakening to low and slow and smoke was a "pig pickin" in college. Amazing to see the effects of time and temperature and nature's combustables on the humble pig! It was years later, recreating that treat for others, that I realized the process was also a day-long party!
Happy to be here, amazed at the depth and breadth of topics, and looking forward to learning even more about a favorite pastime!
