Are electric smokers better for beginners? Any info would be very helpful. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. Make sure you take Jeff's 5 day e-coarse. It's free and has alot of great info in it.
You have came to the right place to learn about smoking. You will find that everyone is willing to share all their knowledge to help others.
Now as far as an electric smoker, sorry don't have one. I have a gosm, but I am sure that someone will be along soon to help you out.

hi tommy I use a 1000 watt hot plate in 1 of my ecb's-kinda plug it in add chips and forget about it-welcome to the site-glad to have ya-more with your unit will guide u mo better.

Welcome to the site. The electrics are probably less hassle, and for a beginner, that could be a good thing. You can get some pretty good grub off of them too. I think the Bradleys have to have the pucks to work correctly, some guys don't like that part, others do. I don't use electrics anymore, I do it the hard way, but that pretty much explains my life!

You will have alot of fun here, and make alot of good friends/and food!

Tommy, Welcome from another noob. The SMF will steer you correctly as you can already see.

The electric smoker forum is pretty good. I ended up with a brinkman (ECB) electric as I was unsure of my ability to read and follow directions to get some good grub so did not want to spend much $$$ at the beginning. But the SMF has steered me through very well and I do fine with pork butts, 3-2-1 ribs and fattys. (will try some brisket next) I have not modified it with any temp controls yet but know I need to with the warmer temps coming where I live. (MI)
