Hi there and Hello from the Bay Area, Northern California.

I just inherited an Old Smokey electric smoker and am super excited to start using it. I bought a rack of baby back ribs and a pork butt to play with.

I tripped over this forum when doing my reading about what to do with the meat I bought and found everyone so friendly and helpful that I decided to join instead of lurk.

cheers!!

Andrea

Howdee Howdee.... seems it an Old Smokey kind a day. Just had a discussion earlier with a new Old Smokey owner. It might help.

Its easy to over smoke with an Old Smokey so when loading the tray the first time, go easy with the chips. Next time you'll then know what to expect. My Mom always like her smoke light and I was the only one that could make it to her liking simply because I used less chips.

Nice to meet ya, oh BTW iff you get a min. click the "My Profile" Icon on the taskbar above and let us know as little or as much as you'd like. Make sure and include where ya lay your head at night because geographic reference can help in discussions to realize a problem or a suggestion.

Nice to meet ya again, and Howdee!

Welcome Andrea!  Congrats on that new (to you) Old Smokey!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.
