Hi fellow smokers!

I am a total newbie to smoking, and hope to find helpful info here.

My husband and I are both retired, me - nurse, him - nuclear power, big Bama fans (Roll Tide), and occasional grillers, so we are starting late in life learning to smoke.

We travel in a small RV when we get the chance, ride a motorcycle ever so often, and enjoy gambling on occasion.

That, plus enjoying our blended family keeps us pretty busy.

I just bought a cheapo Master Forge electric smoker from Lowes, and already discouraged after my second attempt.

Cannot CANNOT get the temp above 225, which I am finding (from other posters) is a common complaint.

I do not wish to start major modifications and find myself a little agitated that I would have to do that in order for the thing to work right!

I have already taken out the water/chip pan or I wouldn't even be at 225 yet.

Anyway, that's my intro.....and hopefully after reading more (a wealth of information here), and experimenting a bit, I'll find myself among the masters someday!
