Hi, from Central Iowa

  1. I'm from Urbandale Iowa and I'm new to SMF and the process of smoking meat. I'm good at eating it, now I need to get good at making it. I've learned some new things the past couple days reading from this forum/site and hope to continue to increase my knowledge and skill smoking meat.

  11. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. My first go round a smoked 2 chickens. I soaked them in brine for 4 hours and put some rub on and they turned out great, considering it was my first time. I tried some ribs the next night and wasn't so lucky. I think a had to much rub on them and the heat seemed to be to high. I need to test my thermometer to make sure it is accurate. I'm looking at buying a meat thermometer, anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on a good one? I'm still amazed how well my chickens turned out. Thanks.
