Hi folks!

I'm a Californian currently In Thailand and missing real bbq. I'm moving to a new place with a decent kitchen and a place I can use a smoker so I'm planning on building a UDS with the hep of some friends and some local metal shops.

Looking forward to digging through here and taking advantage of all the accumulated wisdom.

Thanks!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! This Forum is FAMILY Friendly....please be very careful about your profile pictures and what you post.  Read the below Terms of Service....Family Friendly here is not optional.

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Done. I thought I had earlier but I've been having some maddening unstable network issues.

That e-course looks cool I will check it out for sure. I'm intrigued by the curing thing too, I have a friend who does that over here and he saves a ton doing it and his stuff tastes amazing. Cured meat in the stores here is all imported from what I see and everything imported is subject to 100% import tariff, so there ain't no bargain cold-cuts to be had. Besides, it's always so satisfying to enjoy something one made one's self.
