Hi guys,I'm Bobby and live in Pa. I'm smoking with a masterbuilt electric smoker. I know,I dont get any man points for using an electric smoker but I had a half barrel type with an offset firebox and keeping the temp above 220 after 3 hours was a major pain. I'm looking forward to picking the brains of the pit masters here and getting all the advise I can get regarding the MES.

Hey Bobby, welcome to the forums. We have a number of wattburners here so you're in fine company. The MES is a good little unit and folks that use them enjoy the ease.

welcome to the site, I use the MES exclusivly now thanks to a big oak tree and a storm. I love it. That unit will put out some fine smokes and is easy to use. I will give you a tip that was passed on by Ron, Our resident MES pro.
Get a 12 x 12 UNGLAZED ceramic tile and place it over the heating element in the unit. This will eleminate the hot spot that is on the right side of the unit.

First off welcome Bobby to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
