I'm a newbie but have some great pitmasters helping me out. I have a brinkmann trailmaster limited edition and I have over 8 mods done. I turned it into a top notch airtight pit. I'm from Phoenix, Arizona so it's tricky maintaining temp on these 115 degree days. Looking forward to connecting with the pitmasters on here. I have a lot to learn but couldn't ask for a better hobbie. Happy 4th everyone.

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

Hey all thanks for the warm welcome. I have done over 8 mods to trailmaster limited edition. I will post pics should be done by tonight and I will season the smoker tonight as well.

Can anyone here tell me their feelings on fire bricks ? Good, Bad or in partial? Thanks as always!

Hey all
I'm tuning my pit. Have 5 oven thermometers in as well as my digital at grate surface. If hitting about 300 after about 30 minutes and I closed the damper completely. For our trailmaster does that mean I have to much coal or should I have closed the damper sooner? I'm guessing I don't want to put any meat in until my temp stabilizes at around 275? How do I do that? Also the 2 temp gauges closest to firebox are running at 350 but the middle one and temp probe and two thermometers closest to chimney are holding at 250 so does this mean I need to put my brisket thick end towards the middle and the flat closest to the chimney? I have zero space between baffle and and first tuning plate. Any thoughts suggestions? You are an expert on the trailmaster. I used minion method for my basket. Maybe I started with too many lit charcoals in the chimney? How much do you put in your basket and in the chimney? Thanks again I'm stressed I put all this work in to mods and I feel like I can't control the fire.

My new lang is being delivered tomorrow. It's a custom 48 inch stretch first one Ben built since he aired on pit masters pics to follow!!!
