Hey there!

  1. Just got my first real grill and I'm already looking at a modification for it. It looks like you guys have a lot of experience with mods, and this generally appears to be a friendly kind of community.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning a few things and contributing when I've got something of value to share. Thanks in advance for the welcome!

Hello and [IMG]to SMF - glad to have you here
  4. I can post a link to the grill I have and possibly some pictures later this week.

Anyway, this is the grill I purchased, the Master Forge Dually Charcoal Grill:[IMG]

Now, I found and posted on a thread on here about this, but that thread seems to have been sporadically active for more than a year. I don't know if I'll get a response. :-\

But I'm interested in taking care of some of the gaps on this grill, specifically on either side of the hood, the back of the hood, and around the ash tray in the bottom.

The back of the hood has about a half-inch gap in it, which I suspect is one of the biggest culprits of lost heat here. The ash tray has a smaller gap, the the hood seems to have gaps on either side.

Now, I've read you can use stove gaskets to do this, but I don't know anything about it. What's safe to use for food purposes? Are the gaps intentional to prevent warping?

Anyway, thanks in advance for the help!
