Hey all!!! Just stoppin' by to say Howdy!

I live about 30 miles south of Nashville. I have not had a smoker in about 10 years, so I was very pleased to get one for my birthday last month. My lovely wife bought me one of the Brinkmann Vertical Propane Smoker.

Last week was my maiden voyage, so I wanted to something easy...porkchops. Used a store bought pork rub with apple juice in the water bowl. The taste was great, but they were a little dry. I will try brining next time!

I got about 10 minutes left on my first EVER ribs attempt. My wife wanted 'em tender, so I tried the 2-2-1 method with just a little sauce applied with 30 minutes to go. We'll see how they turn out...

Didn't mean to get so windy...just excited to be smokin' again!!!!!

Thanks for the introduction, and welcome to the SMF. The more often you smoke.. the better it gets. It's all good my friend.

Glad you made your way back into smoking TNDawg.
Chops can be tricky to get just right, sounds like you have a good plan on your ribs, be sure to let us know how they turned out and don't forget to take some pictures

First off welcome to SMF there. You'll like this place cause there are alot of good people here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Next if you haven't tried the E-course I would highly recommend it. It's free and very informative and it will give you the basics of smoking. the next thing you do is go grab something to smoke and if you have any questions just post them here and we will help you out licky spilt. Then grab your camera and snao some pictures (Qview here) and let us see what your smoking and what your smoking on too. So go get something to smoke.
