After years of watching all the great builds, advice & recipes, I've signed in to participate. Tanks for all the great stuff I've been allowed to see & follow thru you comments & pic. I hope to start my first RF build this summer, using a 250gal propane tank.

I've built a direct flow on a trailer in the past & I currently use a propane smoker built out of a retired ice bag merchandiser like you would see in front of your local convenience store.

I currently use pecan, hickory and mesquite for my woods. Fruit woods are not readily available here.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate!

Best Regards,

Dennis

Welcome to SMF! :welcome:
We're glad to have you. The search bar at the top is your most valuable resource here. This forum has been around for over ten years, so there is a good chance that any questions you may have, have already been answered (they may have 10 different answers, but you'll get an instant response non the less).
Please be sure to post your smokes along with your process and recipes. We will be glad to help you along the way and we may also learn something new ourselves in the process. Also, don't forget the very important Q view! (We're mad for pics on here [emoji]128513[/emoji])
Always remember to have fun because it's not fun if you have to work at it.
Thanks for joining,
- Ryan

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.

Hey thanks for the welcome! Been receiving Jeff's newsletter for 3 years now and been reading this site for two. I look forward to starting my first RF this summer sometime. Currently using a homebuilt propane smoker. Built a direct flow years ago and let it go. Still figuring out the correct way to post here, but when I start the build, there will be pics.

David, thanks for the welcome from this SE OK smoker. Most of my slicer/grinder work is to process venison in Nov, but love my beef the rest of the year. Where do you hail from?

Strange how things turn out. called today to get info on a local BBQ contest on the 13th.My main purpose was to find out if I was big enough to justify me taking a Saturday off just to check out smoker build ideas and techniques. Ends up, I'm now judging baked beans and spare ribs. I really wanted ribs and brisket, but not possible. Really looking forward to the experience.

Well, attended my first BBQ contest today and it was great. Met many nice people, (cooks and judges) at a Lonestar sanctioned cook in Durant Ok. This was they're second annual contest. Had 12

teams last year and I believe 18 this year. I judged beans and ribs. Had a great time.
