My name is Shawn and I live in Western Wisconsin near the border. I am new to the smoking game and just stared smoking! I am starting out with a MES and AMAZN smoker. Did my first set of ribs about two weeks ago and turned out fairly well. A little tough but the neighbors didn't mind. I will keep tweaking the smoker and try try again! I currently have a butt in the smoker and will let you know how that turns out! Attached are my ribs.

Thanks all I look forward to learning more from all of you!

:welcome1: To the forum Shawn. Good to meet you. (Im from massachusetts , but i heard you hollerin way over here)....If your ribs were tough , you prob'ly just need to cook them a bit longer. They look good though. You probably want to see a little more of the ends of the rib bones showing before taking them off the smoker. The bend test is good too and you can stick them with a toothpick and if it slides in pretty easy , you're good to go.
Good luck with your next smoke.

Thanks for the ripe hambone! I will apply them next time. I have the butt in the smoker now and about two and a half hours into it. Should go for about 6 hrs. It is just under 4 lbs. tried a small one so if I mess it up I won't be out too much money.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "SMF User Guidlines" .....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
