My smoker was delivered 3 hours ago. I removed it from the box and set it up. When I plug the unit in, the digital unit reads "EAAF."

The digital unit will not all me to set a temperature nor a time.

What the heck could be the problem?  I made sure that the electric unit was plugged in properly. I don't know what the problem can be.

Please help!

Are you using an extension cord??

Whats the temp?  (ambient

I'm really pissed.

I was not using an extension cord.

I brought the machine into my house because it was pretty cold outside last night.

I left it in my living room. The room temperature is 72 degrees.

This morning, I turned it on and still got the same error code.

If it's not working in my house, where it's warm, I'm thinking the unit is damaged.

Where did you get it?

Call them and ask for a replacement

Todd

I spoke to customer service. They suggested putting hot water into the water pan for 3 - 5 minutes to warm up the unit.

I boiled water and it's still not starting.

I called customer service again and they're sending me a replacement digital box.

This is not a good start for this unit. I read all of the bad reviews and now it looks like I'm stuck with a damaged unit.

Morning... before you send it back, check to make sure the plug between the control panel and the smoker box is plugged in correctly... they apply a wet/warm rag to the thermocouple sticking out inside the smoking chamber.... unplug and replug the power cord in to reset everything....   by the way, after all is done and the display works correctly, the timer needs to have a time set before the heating element comes on...    Hope this solves your problems.... Sometimes this stuff happens. The good news is Masterbuilt has a great customer service reputation.

Is the thermocouple the device that looks like a probe which is near the right side of the smoker?

I'm going to try everything tonight.

I ordered the smoker from Amazon.

I'm even more angry because yesterday, I bought a huge $20.00 salmon from Costco's. I ordered an AMNPS from Todd but until it arrives, I went out and bought a bag of Hickory.  I'm sure that I'll still use the hickory eventually but I really was looking forward to smoking that salmon.

Guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. I really appreciate them.

I've tried every single suggestion but nothing works.

I called Amazon and they're overnighting a new replacement smoker to me---I tell you what, this bit_h better work.

Amazon is very good at replacing damaged product.  I love using Amazon for that fact alone..whats even better, they won't ask for your old/broken one back..so you'll have two...that way you got a backup for parts, or fixing and selling or whatever.

FINALLY!!!

I received the new, replacement Masterbuilt 30 inch smoker from Amazon today. I set it up and thank the lord, it actually worked.

Yesterday, I received my AMNPS from Todd. I'm good to go.

Now, I'm all ready to go.

Now guys, this weekend what shall I smoke? I was invited to a party, I'm thinking about doing a butt.

By the way, I really appreciate everyone's advice.

Thanks Dave, you're the man.

I was just pissed that I ordered the smoker. Received it, ran out and bought a big a$$ salmon and the darn smoker was broken. But, that's dust in the wind. The new one came on and is good. My only concern now is using the AMNPS before Friday night when I start smoking my Boston Butt. Dang, I can't wait.

KG,morning.... To insure success with the AMNPS... fill it with pellets and place it in the smoker while preheating... I have found a little extra drying of the pellets will help them to light and stay lit... Pull the chip drawer out about 1 1/2 inches to allow more air flow... the pellets need air to burn.... Keep the top air vent fully open while smoking to let moisture out... follow Todd directions when using the AMNPS and you will be good to go.... The pettet smoker should fit to the left of the heating element/chip tray on the wires there.... Good luck, take Q-views and don't hesitate to ask for anything if you need it.... Enjoy the long smokey ride.... Dave

PS, if you need to cover the AMNPS to keep dripping stuff off of it, place foil at least 2" away from the AMNPS to allow for plenty of air circulation..
