I got my 733 a few weeks ago and love it! Little cumbersome to use but once you get the manual next to you it is easy. So I used it for the first "real" bbq yesterday. After bout an hour smoking I look down at it & it says 250 degrees but my alarms were set to 215-235... What gives? No sounds, no blinking, no nothing?
Anyone run into this issue before? I tried resyncing, turning both units off and resetting the temps, I don't get it?

Yea everything was set right. It was user error (i think) haven't smoked since the post but i think in the directions it said something about pressing a set of buttons to activate the alarm. I just set then and didn't "activate" it. Next time i smoke I will shoot an update here. Thanks

I know what u mean.  If i haven't used mine in a while I hold a little refresher course for myself and play with it before the cook to kind of get familiar with it again. Have a whole collection of thermometers I've collected over the years so it can get confusing who does what/how.

Hope yours is more accurate than mine. In a glass of ice water that my Thermapen read 33* one probe read 41* the other 48*

Yea, i was really PO'd when I got it after all the recommendations because in temps below 100 it was off anywhere between 5-10 degrees F. I almost returned it when I thought I should try it in hot (since thats what we bought it for right?).
So I tried it in boiling water and both were spot on at 211. Preheated my gas oven to 250, both were spot on at 249 & 248. Also did the test at 325 & it was right on.
So I compared it to a industrial high end air thermometer thats accurate to like 3/10th of a degree (borrowed it from my chem lab at school haha) and the Maverick didn't match the Lab unit until it hit 92 degrees F & stayed on par with the lab unit within 2-4 degrees all the way up to 350 when I stopped. So I feel comfortable using it over 100 F. So it will do for BBQ and smoking and what not but wouldn't use it for my fridge haha

Never boiled nor froze mine but its within a degree or two of room or outside temperatures as per room thermostats and outdoor temp guages amongst other devices. I've had the probes read 1 or two degrees different from one to the other but reasonably close. When they sit openly in the hot sun I think they lie a little. Although the probes are both the same i use port 1 for meat and port 2 for smoker just so its easy to remember and easier to set.

They are thermometers. Pretty sure they measure temperature by electrical resistance. If they are not accurate at lower temps something is wrong with them.
Bought a Flameboss 100. At 225*, verified with a Thermoworks hand held unit. At room temperature one of the probes was 20* off....they said it wasn't right and sent me a new unit.

... and so they should have. I know i'm never going to grill ice so i've never tested the probes that low or at 600F° either  ... toasted a few up around there before though. They don't like fire/flame! Just plugged mine in for fun.  Read 77 and 79 out of storage  after 5 minutes sitting on the the counter both read 79. The one on the kitchen wall says the inside house temp is 79.2°F.  I put them in refrigerator. Both reading 36°F now. Fridge thermometer (internal) says 36 by display! I knew they were pretty accurate. These are the 3 footers that came with it. I have 2 - 6 footers I know work but never did an accuracy test. 6 fters ok, 79 at room too. Not going to refrigerate

Guess you missed my point...I have yet to boil test my Maverick....but in ice one probe read 41 and the other read 48. If they are off any place in the range they monitor something is wrong with them....don't matter if you are never going to cook ice...
When I purchased my DigiQ I never checked it. Pit probe is only about 5* off, meat probe, at 211* read between 201* and 225*...between dunking I let it cool off to room temperature. What good is a thermometer, that you use to verify food is at the IT you want when it is inaccurate?

Sell it to a weatherman. I heard many people say they don't measure ice well. Nature of the beast.  My point being as long as the ice is hard its good with me, not measuring it. My probes are good in the range i need them and thats alright by me. Every time I move my boiling temperature changes as per where sea level is. Ok by me too. 24°F difference definately too much. I can get 5 degress difference in a probe by moving a few feet. Can live with that.

Still haven't done the boiling test... but I did stick both probes in the Egg that was cooking beans. Egg was at a steady 275, verified with my Thermoworks. Probes were placed right next to the Thermoworks probe, shielded from the fire by the plate setter. Were all over the place. 270 and 285 on one check. 273 and 290 on another. Last check one was at 270 the other at 295.
As to the boiling temperature I used a calculator I found on line...uses the corrected altitude based on barometric pressure and elevation...
Course my "Smart" phone doesn't allow me to post links since it's last update.....
