Hello all.  I am experimenting with my BTLE.  I have made most of the mods ( minion box, extended smoke stack to grate level, 2 river country Thermos at grate level, and sealed fire box and lid.   I also have a 16 ga tuning plate approx. 24" long with the last 6" bent at 45 degrees.  The plate is pushed up against the end of the smoke box so heat is going underneath and around the top edge of the 45.  I am still getting a 25 degree temp difference between the fire box end and the stack end.  Any suggestions on what to do to get the temp up at the smoke stack end?

If the stack is at the opposite end from the firebox, you want tuning plates.....   They should be the width of the smoker....  the spacing is to let heat escape upward to the food grate... spacing adjusts the heat..    the opening to the firebox must be below the baffle and tuning plates to work properly....     Dave

Thanks Dave.  I have a 3 6 x14" 16 ga plates I Had cut when I made the baffle as described above.  I was afraid adding them would cause less heat at the far end instead of increasing it.  I will give it a try this week.
