Help Needed MES 30 difference and Suggestions

Hi everyone so I am new to the whole smoking. I went ahead and smoked a whole chicken last night in a propane and it turned out amazing. Now i went ahead and returned the smoker today after seeing amazing reviews on the MES 30. When I went to purchase the MES 30 i see there are 2 models. Theres model #20070910 and then 20071117. They both look identical to me other than the controller being square on one and more dome on the other. Can anyone help with this also should I add the Masterbuilt Cold Smoker attachment or go with A-MAZE-N? Last thing is there any benefit or difference between pellets and wood?

Can't help you on the electrics but do have to ask: If the chicken smoked in the propane unit came out fantastic, why return it? Just curious.

It was a bit hard to maintain temperature and after doing my research and seeing the electric had amazing reviews it is also easier to maintain temperature.

Also electric is a lot cheaper to run than propane.
