how long can i hold a butt in the oven? if i set it to 225 can i go to sleep and get it out in the AM? its at 180 now and its been on since 3pm..ive been cooking since 10am and im exhausted.

set an alarm for every hour to wake ya up and check it, a butt will hit 225, takes a while but i've seen it when very tired

I would foil and put it in the oven at 190' - 200' with some liquid and go to bed.
It should be fine for pulling. Let us know how it turns out wihth some Pics.

Last night had a butt stall really bad on me, after 3-4 hours (I can't remember) I was so tired I threw it in a 250 oven and it rose to 205 in good time. I wrapped in a towel and threw in a cooler and hit the hay, 3-4 hours later I checked on it and it was holding at 149. 2 hours later I was able to get around to pulling it and after all that time it was still above the danger zone.

I have two butts in right now, side by side, lol, the left one stalled the right one didn't appear to. 3 more degrees and can wrap the left one in foil.

Took the ladyfriend's kid fishing today so got a late start, didn't plan on the pulled pork today anyways, just had to take advantage of .78 a pound butt.

Nook a nap early evening because I knew it was going to be a late smoke... ALL IS GOOD IN SMOKELAND!

Will go by an get 4 more butts at this price for a total in freezer 8. Did up some buckboard for the first time last weekend... Where has it been all of my life?

Peace in the TBS, and a safe memorial day to all tomorrow!

What Ron said goes for me too.

Agree. Set the oven at what ever temp you want to have the butt at when you normally would have finished on the smoker. For pulling 195 to 205º is fine. It won't get any hotter than that. Just make sure you are in foil.
