Help Me: Chili Fries

  1. Hi All, 

    Was wondering if you could help a Brit who keeps hearing from his American friends about supposedly amazing Chili Fries. 

    Never made them or even tried them but they sound great, so how do I go about making them? 

    Non-branded ingredients only please, we don't get the same great selection of stuff here as elsewhere.

    Well Alex chili cheese fries are really easy to make. Just break it down Chili (make some chili) cheese (go to the store and buy shredded cheese) then the fries (make some fries) then just combine all the ingredients and you'll have chili cheese fries. BINGO

  4. Sounds pretty easy, even I can manage that! 


    Well I guess that is the question! 

    Chips are normally thick cut and slightly stubbier either oven baked or fried in oil, where as fries are thinner, longer and always fried in oil (generally look like McD's Fries) 

    Am I better off using the thinner ones, or a thicker 'chip'? 
     
  5. I prefer thinner myself. More chili and cheese per fry that way.

    Cut the chips 8-10mm and Double Fry them...10-15 minutes at 160*C, should begin to turn golden, then spread them on news paper to cool 15-30 minutes then Fry again until really crisp at 190*C...Maris Piper Potatoes are common in England and a Great choice for Crisp Chips...Obviously a well aged Cheddar would be a good choice, a Double Gloucester or a Huntsman ( my Fav) might be fun too...JJ

  11. Thanks Jimmy, got myself a big bag of Maris Piper's, my favourite Chili is on the stove now and I'm going to be giving this a go in the next few hours with a QView going.

    Really appreciate all the help guys, looking forward to it hugely!
