MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY!!!!! The ship is sinking!!!!! Trying to do a reverse sear on some times and the MINI won't go above 190!!!

That certainly was the case this evening. Figured it out, my son bumped the lower vent handle as he was walking by closing the vent.... Ughhh okay let's start this meal over again!!!!!!

Hmmm?

I assume you kept your cool?

No breakdown in P.C. here?

No psychological or physical abuse dished out?

No kicking self for not checking?

Sometimes I just have to grab a cold one and be left alone for a few minutes?

Good luck and good smoking.

I used my Mini to smoke some Prime grade Ribeye steaks the other night-used hickory and cherry for the smoke. I took the pot off the lower section, opened the bottom vent all the way and then did the reverse sear. Sometimes I'll grab my LooftLighter, plug it in and help the briquettes along. The LooftLighter uses super-heated air to get fire going.

Dang good meal. I was so looking forward to eating my steak, I forgot to take que-view shots. I don't get prime meat all the time, but Ma was in the right place at the right time at our local Kroger store. The meat department manager had just brought out some reduced price steaks and he let Ma pick through them before puting the rest in the Sale bin. Ma said that these were the only prime graded steaks in the bunch.

Great flavor and I could cut mine with the side of the fork.

Sometimes i'll use my HF torch or HF weed burner, it uses super heated FIRE to get the fire going.

I do use the HF Torch to fire up the Lang 60. My son picked up the Looftlighter at a tradeshow that he helped set up. He got it for 1/2 off because it was "damaged"-fell off the table and part of the opening on the safety sheild end bent. He took it home and used his leatherman pliers to unbend the end and brought the sheild back into round.

Below is a video that shows how it works.
