Hey everyone. Chris here from Tampa, FL. I just picked up my first smoker (a one door vertical Brinkmann), and am very excited to get smoking. I have enrolled in the 5 day ecourse, and already have learned a bunch. I know absolutly nothing about smoking, but it looks like I came to the right place! There is a crap-ton of info on here! I hope to do my first smoke in the next few days, and will be sure to let ya'll know how it goes.

Chris welcome to SMF from Crystal River. Congrats on the new smoker. You'll find lots of great recipes as well as the info. Have fun and happy smoking

Is that a European unit of measurement?!?

Welcome to the SMF Chris!

You came to the right place to learn a whole bunch. Watch out its addicting.

It wasn't too long ago I started out, and now there is not enough time to devote to looking up reading, smoking, and eating.

Ask any questions, experiment, take pictures (qview) and most important, have fun.

Hi Chris! Welcome to our little big family here at SMF!
I actually think that "crap-ton" is australian.

Glad you joined here. If you have any questions just ask away!!!

Welcome to the site Chris, congrats on the new smoker and venturing into the wonderful world of smoked foods-it truly is a wonderful art.

Be sure to season that smoker good before youstart smoking in it.
Got anything planned for your first go?

Hello and welcome. As already mentioned take pics and post your smokes, even if you mess up these people here are good and can help you a crap-ton. LOL

And remember without pics....it didn't happen.

Everyone here enjoys seeing the Qview so be sure to post plenty of pics...

Large ones that us old people with bad eyes can see.

When you uploading to Photobucket I always use the Large IMG setting, 640 x 480 it is a nice size...

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
Welcome To Your New Addiction

Glad to have you with us, Chris. As you've read before, this is extremely addicting. Go ahead - Smoke with reckless abandon. You're in good hands here.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I haven't yet decided what my first smoke will be. I'm sure a fatty or 2 will make it on there at some point soon. It might have to wait until this weekend though as I have suddenly gotten very busy for the next couple of days (I hate it when that happens). Anyways, I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl and will definitely be posting stupid questions, and hopefully some tasty looking Qview.

This is what I am working with. It's not much, but hopefully it will get the job done.

Hi Chris, and welcom aboard! Glad you joined us. You'll be turnin' out good 'que on that Brinkman before long.

It sounds like you're a happy newbie here at the SMF. Don't worry my friend, you'll take on that learning curve at speed real soon.
