Texas retire here , 8 yrs here , originally a Yankee, been eating good smoked meat  while in Tx and thought I should try it.

Deciding on an electric unit for ease of operation , I am a woodworker so I have plenty of Oak and Mesquite scraps around, Been supplying the neighborhood for 3 yrs with wood, thought I should try some myself.

Liking what I have read so far  and trying to learn.

Thanks for all the info, I cannot contribute much as I am a novice, maybe later I can add something.
