Hello from Texas, DFW area. Im a huge outdoor griller, love my food,  been cooking on the webber since as long as I can remember. Im an IT guy for 20+ years, married with a 3yr old lil boy whos my pride and joy and have a 17yr old step daughter. Im into hot rods and car restoration as a hobby. Been smoking with the weber many of times, and even built a ring to increase the chamber size and allow me to smoke full chickens on it. But, as much as I cook, Im extremely green when it comes to smoking or using a horizontal smoker.

Im so stoked I found this web site...I had no clue there was so much math and physics involved in building a smoker! The wealth of knowledge here is incredible and I have yet to even dip into the food section.

The way I am, Id rather build my rig then buy one, I love working with tools and metal and I enjoy the design aspects of the pit as much as I love the food. I love the feeling of using something that was made from my 2 hands and nobody elses. This is also a negative, I tend to learn but sometimes the hard way. Im in the process now of building a small backyard RF smoker. What was originally a semi-guess on the specs has now become somewhat of a challenge to ensure the thing will actually work!

Glad to be here, thanks all!

Hey Mike, hello and welcome to you.

I built my own smoker, didn't know a darn thing about it.

Wish I had found this site before I did all this.

I think I could have a lot easier time with it.

In any case I think you will love this smoking thing.

Lots of knowledge and experience here and  folks

willing to help out.

Jump right out into the forums and ask any questions

you might have.

You will get lots of answers.

Good luck and have fun.
