Thank you for having me in your Awesome Forum!! Talk about information overload.

Just started smoking for the first time on my own, using the metal garbage can and heating element. I love the idea of making things for myself.

I used to work at a  meat shop *seems like a lifetime ago, We used to smoke hams, bacon and sausage. Thought I would give it a try on my own.

I appreciate being here and look forward to your company.

Welcome, hell!

Hop up on the porch, pick a rocker and set a while.

Where are you from?

Lance

Hi Lance, I am from Woodstock New Brunswick, Canada where the mosquitos will carry you away if you are not fast enough :)

I see you are from New York, I hear it is fast paced there, you must enjoy having time to relax and enjoy smoking when you can.

Good to hear from you Lance,

Devin

Thanks David I think I will actually buy a new one this time. It would be nice to have a proper setup, Then I can experiment from there.

Many thanks,

Devin

Devin, we live on our farm and don't go into town unless we need to.  I suspect that when we retire and sell the place we'll still wind up quite rural.  I doubt we'll ever live in a village let alone a city.

Fortunately, we are pretty wide open to the wind and our pond is more than 200 yards from the house so mosquitos are rarely seen.  The wet last couple of months has been a big exception though.

Good luck and enjoy the site and hobby.

Lance
