I'm Steve, I live in Joshua Tree, Ca. I'm new to smoking, new as in never ever done it. I don't have a smoker yet, trying to see what I can learn from this forum (before making a decission) about some of the aspects of this craft. All I know at this time is I'm drooling.

Nice to meet you, Steve! Welcome to the SMF family. You found a great place to talk/read/learn about all aspects of smoking meat. Whatever kind of smoker you're leaning toward, you'll find folks here who can advise you with first hand, expert knowledge. There's lots of really good people here. Do you have an idea yet of what type of smoker your after? (Stick burner, charcoal, gas, electric) There's a wide variety of rigs out there that turn out great food. If you give us a hint about which direction you're leaning, you'll get plenty of advice from folks who have the same type of rigs. Good Luck, and Happy Smokin'!
