Hi folks, I have been lurking around here for several months now.

I have learned much from all of you already, I have much more to learn.

I have found that I can slow cook in my oven using liquid smoke.

However I'm in the process of building an electric smoker and can't wait to really get smokin'.

Glad to have you aboard Gearjammer!  As you've already seen, there is plenty of sound advice from excellent people all over the country.  Ask and you shall receive.  Don't forget to post some good pics of that build and of the qview whenever you get smokin!  Good luck and have fun!

Gear jammer, Welcome to the site. Everyone here is always ready to share tips, ideas, recipes or whatever you need. However, as of right now, you are on probation. Please write 200 times: "I will never mention liquid smoke on this forum again". When you have done that and you have thrown out all of the L/S contraband, then you can re-apply for admission.

Now then, you have just had your first smoking lesson. Good luck and welcome, Joe

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a nice, windy and warm day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Gary

I would like to thank everyone for the welcome and I promise never to say terrible things like that filthy LS word anymore.

                                     Thanks to all

Welcome again, gearjammer. You da' man. Some folks will occasionally use a small amount of L/S in a sauce, but I have never known anyone to admit it. My philosophy is that if I'm doing right I can make smoke and don't need to buy it. You may want to do things another way. That's just my $0.02 worth. Good luck, Joe
