Hi everyone.

I'm Pat. Nice to meet you all. I've been eyeing a smoker for a long time and my mother just bought me a MasterBuilt electric smoker. I'm looking forward to starting maybe this weekend. I'll probably do a boston butt or a whole chicken for starters. 

I'm hoping to learn a lot browsing here. I signed up for the 5 day e course and the picking meats email was helpful. I know meats pretty well, but it was packed with some really helpful info! Can't wait to learn the trade with all of you guys!

Oh and I'm a Hokie... Don't know if we have any college football fans in here or not? :)

Welcome to the forum, your at the right place to learn. Lot's of helpful folks around here that can answer about any question you may have. THe MES is a good smoker to learn on and you'll enjoy it. Have one myself. And yes there are a lot of  football fans here. Some serious tail gate munchies recipes on the site. My favorite is ABT's!    Roll Tide!

Hey BamaFan. I was actually at the VT/Bama College Football Kickoff at the GA Dome a couple of years ago. Amazing experience, even though you guys took the W in the end! I have a friend that goes to Bama. I'll be rooting for you guys against LSU!
