Hi all.  Name is Debby and I have been lurking about for about a year reading and enjoying the posts.  I have a New Braunfels offset smoker for about 10 years  that is rusting through in places (sorry about the spelling, the label is currently covered with snow, frozen rain and dripping with icicles) and recently purchased a Smokin-It smoker because I am getting too lazy to mind the fire.  This weather has been unusual for right outside Washington DC - seems like the "abandon your car" cry has been coming weekly.  People in DC panic with the appearance of a single snowflake, and they can't drive worth a darn to boot.

Have cooked a few butts and smoked some cheese on both units and although the electric unit if easier to use, there is still something wonderful about the charcoal unit that I will miss when its time comes to an end, especially for grilling.  I almost forgot, I have one of those Char-Broil Big Easy Electric Cookers.... Tried in once but wasn't impressed.  Guess the back porch is getting a little crowded

Thanks for all the help so far and a big Hello.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cold and wet day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Gary

Welcome aboard Debby.  I spent 13 years,  (High school and beyond), in the DC area, commuting in and out for work.  Know exactly what you mean about the lack of knowledge of rough weather driving,  (Or courteous driving for that matter),  round there.

One more smoker on the porch is always going to be the right number of smokers.
