I started smoking about 4 years ago when I found a dusty, ancient Brinkmann Smoke-N-Grill at my wife's family cottage near Kenora Ontario (Lake of Two Mountains). I was hooked pretty much right away and bought the same Brinkmann for my home. I got "Smoking Meat" by Jeff Phillips as a birthday present from my father-in-law which ultimately led me to this forum - it is by FAR the best smoking book I've ever read. 3-2-1 ribs changed my life! I even modded up the ancient lake Brinkmann as described in the book.
I've smoked for Christmas in very cold conditions (minus 15-20 Celcius) by building a massive snow-fort around my smoker and smoked in hot windy summers at the lake. I'm hopefully going to be grabbing a Webber 22.5 inch smoker in the near future to take my smoking to the next level! Anyway, thanks for the forum, I'm looking forward to reading.
