Hello all, Travis here...

I have been following these forums for about a month now and decided it was time to make myself comfortable.

A little bit about my self.. I am a country boy at heart with a lot of hobbies. . I have been a volunteer fireman for 18 years... (currently serving as first captain and captain of interior operations..... yes I am the dummy that runs in the building first?!)

I am also an avid hunter .... bow pistol shotgun muzzleloader and rifle.. this is what brought me to smoking!!

I have spent many a day cooking on the grill for friends and family..... lots of success stories and a few failures. .

While working at the butcher shop for a friend a few years ago we decided smoked venison backstraps would be a fun task.... well after some trial and error we figured it out...
I also figured out that buying my own smoker would be much more rewarding!!!

So a few weeks ago I purchased a smoke hollow 44" unit... so far so good on the break in process.... tomorrow I plan on doing some smoked venison roasts....

I am sure I will have plenty of questions for you all and can't wait to get to know ya better!!

Hello Travis and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
