I'm not a seasoned smoker, but that's probably because of the cheap charcoal smoker I tried to use so many years ago. Can't remember the brand, but it was red and had an open bottom and two porcelain bowls. Everything came out bitter so I gave up on it...

Anyway, I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker on my Christmas list and am looking forward to getting back into it. I've cooked some ribs and a beef roast "low and slow" on my Weber kettle. They turned out well, but I think the temperature control on the MES should help a lot.

I've done a lot of browsing on SMF since joining. Seeing the successes posted here and the help given is amazing. And I'll have to admit my mouth waters like Pavlov's dog every time I open a new thread.

So a big Howdy to you all!

Thanks! Already bought the ET733 wireless thermometer. Was looking at the MB Digital Smoker. Is the BT model worth twice the price? I saw them but was also leery of the glass front. lf I had glass I'd feel like I had to keep it clean and that sounds like a pain.

I have the glass door it is not that bad to clean, white vinegar and paper towels.I do not have the BT mine is a Gen 2 it is horrible for temp control. Bearcarver just did a review on the BT and every one else seems to like it.Hope that helps.

I'm not nearly far enough from Houston, in the Sugar Land area. Hope to retire in East Texas in a few years. Spent about 10 years in Longview and will probably settle near there.
