  1. I'm new to this forum but looks like a cool place to be. I have been a welder and machinist all of my life. Just recently retired and started my own business at home. Was doing general welding and gradually got into building smokers and bbq's. Didn't really know there was that much to designing and building a good one. Hope to get some good ideas here.

Welcome to the forums!  Glad you joined us.  You've found a great place to learn and share ideas on our favorite pastime...Smoking and Grilling great food (and building smokers, too!).  Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  If you haven't already, be sure to check the smoker builds forums, and just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.

[IMG]to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! There is a very active Builds section here.  I would go introduce your self and bounce ideas around there.  http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/f/197/smoker-builds

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/a/terms-of-service

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
