Piney Woods of East Texas
My name is Keith and I reside in the Piney Woods of East Texas. I have been cooking and smoking for many years. I have always used an offset fire box pit of one style or another smoking beef, pork, chicken and even the occasional vegetable. I also cook a mean pot of chili. After the burn ban went into effect this summer, I was hesitant to fire up the big pit and started researching electric smokers. That is when I came across this site. I ended up buying a MES 40 and am really enjoying it. I received a Brinkman electric smoker as a gift many years ago, but was never satisfied with the results and ended up junking it. The MES is much better, though there is the always present learning curve with any new toy. I recently purchased an ET-732 from Todd after reading the good comments about his attitude toward customer service. I admit to lurking for a while before deciding to join and then lurking some more before posting this. I have learned much from the many posts and hope to share some of my thoughts and photos as well.

First off welcome to SMF there Keith. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I look forward to discussing and seeing the very thing that bonds everyone on this board.

It has finally stopped raining for a few days which gives me the chance to fire up the smoker.
