Hello this is my first day as a new member,me and my wife have built a competition team and we love cooking and spending time with family and freinds.we are from henryetta okla and have three kids. me and my brother built my smoker its 9 ft in length it has a 6ft cooking chamber and a 3 ft firebox.I have trouble with keepin even temp.I found you guys while looking at reverse flow smokers and really thought you could help me with my smoker.Do you think i should turn my smoker into a reverse flow as of now i only get to use have of the cooking chamber.Im gonna put some pics of my smoker on when i get time my smoker is 1/4 pipe with 1/4 pipe firebox. Im looking forward to hear from you guys and your ideas its turning cold now so its a good time to work on it. nice to meet all of you

These our my pics its 70 degrees different from fire box to the end of the smoker. Hope theses help and i also hope you guys could help.

TNK, howdy again..... what set-up do you have for your tuning plates in the smoker ?????  I'm no expert ... all I know is what I have read here...  Dave

A Reverse Flow smoker will hold even temps much better than an Off-set.

I would definitely try to go RF if possible.

First off welcome TNK to SMF. You'll like this place for there are alot of folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. You will find alot of good recipes and techniques here also. so with all that said:

thanks alot i really think revarse flow is the way to go. I have some time to do it now that is gettin cold
 
there is no tuning plates or anything in there just use the stack to adjust temp. is 1/4 inch think enough for RF plate
