Hi there, I'm new to the world of smoking. Just bought a Dyna-Glo offset smoker from Walmart. I really can't wait to start smoking away. I've been homebrewing IPA's for a couple of years now and decided that some tasty smoked meats would go well with a tasty homebrew. I'm 38,married with 3 kids, born and raised in So Cal. Just stumbled across this site and thought I'd give it a shot and see what I can learn from others.

Hey Keyos welcome to the site.  I'm a fan of the IPA too.  There a forum for home brewing here, just click on "smoking meat and other things" and scroll down,  near the bottom of the list you'll find it.  Good luck with your new smoker, and good smokin'.

Hello Keyos - Im also in SoCal - Corona CA.

You will find that you  will get started with that smoker and find that you need to do a lot of improvements, like thicker walls, install baffles to get the smoke and heat evenly distributed etc. Then you will buy a more expensive, better built one - Home depots is better design.

For me, I started out smoking only in a Stick burner cause I thought electrics were cheating and it wouldn't come out as good. Then I was given a brinkman electric one - home depot - 80 bucks. I never went back to stick again! Bought an MES 30 signature model and an amaze'n smoker, and I will never go back - I can drink my IPA's (Stone, or HAnger 24) and set it and forget it till dinner time.

Go out and buy that little electric one and a chicken. Rub it and smoke for 5 hrs......

Enjoy the journey / Addiction !!
