My name is Mike and I finally took the plunge into the wonderful world of owning a smoker,
I've been lurking for awhile doing my research on different smokers... I chose the 18.5" Weber smokey mountain... I bought it on Sat and fired it right up and smoked up some Bacon Candy... It was fantastic,
Turned right around and did a Tri Tip, also fantastic, then last night I did a whole beer butt chicken, was the best tasting whole chicken I've ever had..
So far I'm very very happy with the WSM.. Hold the heat for a long time and I'm able to control the heat really well..
Looking forward to trying new rubs, meats and techniques.....

Hello Mike and welcome, Congrats on the new smoker and successful cooks.

Thanks Gary, Have to honest with ya, I was super nervous about each cook session!!! Drove me nuts not to pop the lid off and take a peek at it... With three different meats in the smoker now I've calmed down a bit and learned to trust the WSM and my thermometer... Although the stock thermo in the lid isn't very accurate and it's a bit sticky!!!! I'm thinking about upgrading to a Maverick et-732
