Hello everyone , just purchased a Smokin-it # 2 Electric Smoker and have already smoked two slabs of St Louis style Ribs with great success and hope to get even better with the recipes and ideas provided by everyone on this forum considering that I am thinking of doing Leg of Lamb or a Brisket for my next smoke . Quick mention , this is my first Smoker which is a very big learning experience so could you all please bare with me if I ask to many questions . Thank you , Artie

Welcome Artie! Great forum, lots of good info, and don't worry bout askin too many questions! Folks here love to answer and help out.

GFS seems to have decent prices and the meat I've seen looked pretty good. I've not purchased from them yet as I tend to buy local meat from a local butcher - I don't much care for all of the injected chemicals the big guys use to add weight - er I mean flavor. That being said, last time I was in GFS (just before Christmas) the labels didn't say anything about their butts being injected. ;)

Hey Artie, you're in GFS "heartland" over there on the west side of the state so you should have no problem finding one that peddles Briskets and butts.

I use the GFS in Utica as my go-to place for brisket. Their prices always seemed to be noticeably cheaper (.25 -.50 cents/lb cheaper) than the market rate at that time. The quality is good too. I highly recommend you at least give them a try. Next time I go in there I'll get a current price an let you know.

Humdinger , I am going to be out and about  around GFS next week and will have to check them out . Thank you , Artie
