Hello everyone,

I'm new to smokingmeatforums.com as well as smoking in general. We just purchased (and received) our very first smoker. We got the Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker. The one with a window. I'll be seasoning it tomorrow night with the intention of smoking our first something this weekend. I can't wait!!

Any suggestions on a good first smoking item? I'll take all the help I can get.

Have a great day everyone!

Susan

Great to see another PNW smoker on here. Can't go wrong with doing some pork shoulder on your first run, pulled pork is always a crowd favorite. Good luck, and welcome!

Good afternoon and welcome Susan. Congrats on the new smoker. You said you were new to smoking. I would do a couple of short smokes with something like chicken (Cheep and hard to mess up) maybe a little sausage, That way you can check out your smoker make sure everything is working properly (Check the temp gauge) and you can get comfortable with it before you do some long smokes. Just my 2 cents worth.
