Hi everyone, my name is Matt and currently live in Russell, PA in Northwest PA. I've been doing smoking on my Weber for several years and just bought a MES 30" Gen2.5 about a month ago. I used the forum extensively in researching smokers. I really liked all the information I was able to obtain so I pulled the trigger and became a member.
I've done a couple smokes on the MES and they have turned out well, using as instructed. I have now run across the AMNPS and will be getting one them.
Currently, I'm running a temperature test with the iGrill Mini and a cheap Walmart RF thermometer. Initial tests show the MES overruns about 25°F on heat-up. The two temperature probes are reading about 10°F lower than the MES. It also looks like the PID controller in the MES takes about 3 cycles to really get dialed in. I will post the iGrill Mini data once my test is complete. Also, I'm looking at getting the Maverick ET-733. I was looking at the 735 but there seems to be issues with the app and I already have the iGrill.
Can't wait for the fall and do my pheasants on the MES instead of the Weber, and cold smoking with the AMNPS.
I look forward to learner and sharing where/when I can about the wonderful world of smoking.
Everything is better smoked regardless of what my wife thinks. Smoke On!
