Hi All,

Name's Travis and I'm from Rotorua, New Zealand.  I have a 6 burner hooded bbg (grill), an

old Webber and I am currently turning a 1950's fridge into a smoker.I haven't done a lot of smoking so

I need a bit of advice and opinions on the build so I will post photos and questions later.

Look forward to sharing ideas with the knowledgeable bunch you all are! :)

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

             Travis

Welcome Travis ,There's a lot of clever meat fabricators/smoker builders here.Im not one of them. You will have no trouble tapping into the expertise that resides here. Expecting some hapuka smoked  over manuka when you get rolling.

Welcome from the land of 10,000 lakes of Minnsosta. Glad you are here with us....As a child my grand dad had a refrigerator smoker at his house on the lake. He smoked fish all the time and it was awesome.  They work super good as a smoker. Insulated well too.

We are happy you joined our group..........

Hello Travis and

to SMF - looking forward to seeing your build progress

I've been to your home town.  I did a semester in NZ while I was an undergrad and I spent a few days in Rotorua.  I went fishing on Lake Rotorua and on Rerewhakaaitu while I was there.  We caught some great rainbows on Rotorua, but nothing on Rere.  That's a pretty awesome place.  Someday maybe I'll make it back down there.

Anyway, as one novice to another, this is the most helpful site I've ever found on a topic on the internet by far.  It would have taken me 10 years to learn what I've picked up in a few months here.
