Hello all! I am completely new to smoking, I live in southern New Jersey and am looking forward to hearing all the tips and tricks I can for using my smoker! So far, I've extended the chimney to grate level, used the charcoal tray as a diffuser, and lined the cook chamber with foil. I was thinking of taking ceramic briquettes or lava rock and filling the charcoal tray (between the grate and inverted metal) so as not to restrict any airflow, but still get the heat retention. Any thoughts? Here are some pics of what I've done so far to the smoker in preparation for use!
