Hi guys

Newbie here from Sounthern NJ (transplant from GA), lurked for a while looking into new smoker. Deciding on a GOSM or a MB 40", and the info on the site has been very helpful so far. I have always used the BGE and the Stoker for my cooks, but I have grown bored of the constant checking and resetting routers and gadgets at 4 am... So I am now open to any suggestions, comments, etc. as to which way to go. I like the GOSM, and they have the new 36" Big Block in stock with the updated chimney, magnetic door, etc., but I also like the convenience of the MB electric and more stable temps with the insulated cabinet for cold night time cooks...

Glad to be here and look forward to learning a lot!

Hi NJDawg,

all those are great smokers. Each  has different pros and cons.

It's a difficult decision but I'm sure you'll make the right one.

Welcome to the SMF Family...Those are the two I looked at ...My opinion so far...If your are all about Hot smokes with a focus on things like Poulty that will want to see temps over 275*F....Look deeper into GOSM....If you are going to do more low temp 130-200* smokes like Sausage...The MES 40 may be the way to go...JJ

Welcome to SMF njdawg. Glad to have you aboard.

I don't know anything about the GOSM, but I do have the

MES 40 and simply love it.

Sure you will figure out which one ya want. Good Luck, and

Welcome, NJDawg!

Lots of help available. I have a friend that has a GOSM and has used it for years very successfully.  He plans to keep using it till it blows away.  I guess experience is the key.

Enjoy and GOOD LUCK.  Send photos of your work.
