My name is Bill and I live 40 miles NW of Minneapolis,MN.I have some land 7 acres and a 12 acre pond in a really nice area. There are 57 lakes and 4 rivers within 10 miles of home so there is allot to do.
I work for a medium size general contractor as a field superintendent for the last 9 years and 32 years in the trades.
The family is two daughters and the bride .I like to show them that not everything comes from the grocerie store in a red ,yellow or blue foam package.I have been making sausage for 20 + years .We do some canning but mostly pickleing and we make the best garlic dill pickles around, even entered them in our state fair.
The arsenal of grilling tools, a Webber genesis : Webber kettle my folks got in 1969 and I have cooked 100's of turkeys in that thing. A little chief vertical loading smoker I have had for 20 years. made a ton of 22mm.pepper sticks and jerky with that box .what I do now days is smoke for the flavor and then bring in and put in the dehydrator for better control ,little chief is not much for control. We got a rotisserie for the gas grill and is that a fun item to use.I brined my first turkey on that thing and I will try to all ways brine the turkeys from now on,what a difference and is that to die for.
What a great site to belong to and who here doesn't like to eat ? my kind of folks .thanks to all Bill

From on Minnesotan to another welcome to the board. Sounds like you will bring alot of experience to the table with you!!
I am just south of Duluth in Cloquet. Sounds like we need to get together. Those garlic pickles would go great in a Redeye blood mary!!
You will find this a great place. Welcome!!

Hey Bill,

Welcome from just down the road in Maple Grove. I'm a fellow newbie here as well, but have already gotten enough tasty ideas from all the great people here to keep me busy smokin' for a looonnnggg time.

Thanks for all the greetings Very nice and greatly appreciated.

3montes... I just was in Cloquet and did a job there @ the post office and I had a job in Duluth for the last year and a half at their post office on Michigan st. west end.

Kurtsara... I like to make the sticks and they seem to be the favorite of all my guinea pigs I try thing out on.after deer season we'll get together and I'll run a couple of hundred out for you and show you how I have done it for years.

Meat hunter... you live in some of the most beautiful area that MN has to offer but I won't go into detail and we'll keep that a secret.I sure like to bow hunt the whitewater area.haven't in years but will never forget hunts there.

Reents...to funny being from Monticello too, Great place to live here.

Cowgirl ... I have looked at your blog and all I'll say is WOW! I'm in some fine company. You are quite the chef.I think your one of the reasons I'm making a UDS the pictures of your smoking are fantastic.

ALX...on the Chesapeake bay I would think of that as a great place to live.I got a sailboat given to me a 23' Watkins and another site I joined they do allot of sailing there.I know zip about sailing and that adds to the excitement/danger but we have had a blast learning and I have gotten good not great at it .quite a leaning curve in the sailing thing but it's just a boat powered by the wind.

Zjaybird...I will post the pickle recipe ,it's so simple, but what makes them so good is the great well water I have here.My neighbors come and fill their water bottles here .we tried to make them in other places but they need good water from a well.I'll post it later .

LPH Maple Grove I use to live there 97th and Cottonwood.grew up in Osseo and went to school there too.Lived right in town and grew up hunting all the potato fields from Osseo to the Mississippi river fun times.some great memories from them days.

Thanks to all that said hello /howdy/welcome it is very nice of all of you. Bill
