Hi everyone, glad to be a member of this awesome forum. I just bought my first smoker Thursday night and I did my first beer can chicken this afternoon. I bought a chargriller outlaw with a SFB. After about two hours of assembly and doing some mods that were suggested on this forum it worked pretty well today. It was a cool afternoon and a little breezy, perfect for fueling the fire. Just wanted to introduce myself and I can't wait to start this new hobby.

Oh yeah, I am a homebrewer as well, so if anybody ever wants to talk about that I am game.

Thanks!

Welcome Manning. You came the right place. You'll learn allot from everyone here.

Welcome to the SMF. Just tried my first chicken today as well. The SMF steered me through once again.

Welcome to SMF ManningSMS from a neighbor in Carthage. Hope you enjoy the site and your new edible hobby. There's lot's of homebrewers here too. So you're in the right place. Ask questions when you have them and bring pics of your smokes ( Q-view)

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. To answer one quick question, yes, to be technical the SMS should be MSU. Of course when I graduated from there it was still SMS so I guess I am just staying loyal. Thanks again everyone.

Hey Manning,

If you throw a party at the Lake of the Ozarks this summer please invite me. Homebrew, some Q and the party cove. Wow.

Glad you mentioned that Wayside. One reason I am trying to get into smoking is so I can throw a big 4th of July bash this summer. I already have three of my homebrews kegged and conditioning. Now I am just trying to improve my smoking skills. Thinking of doing a salmon today. Does anyone have pros or cons on using cedar planks for the salmon? Thanks!

Welcome from another Show Me guy.

Just a suggestion, but you might start a thread about what you are planning on cooking for your big event. You can get all the info you need to do a couple dry runs.

Again, welcome!
