Well the smoking season will be winding down up here in the tundra soon, but that doesn't put a chill on the thrill of the cook! I have been tinkering around with smoking as a hobby form some years. I started with smoking on a BBQ - charcoal and gas, moved to a smokey joe cylinder water smoker I converted to electric (mistake!), got an offset charcoal/stick burner (a purest) and now to a Traeger pallet smoker. I must say my biggest challenge has been perfecting the Traeger. Patience is the key.

I'm looking forward to all the expertise of true smoking epicureans to help me with tips and tricks and to be able to share some of mine.

Welcome to the forum. It is lots of fun, but you have to participate to get the full experience. If you read a post and have a good comment in your head, post it.

What's an epicurean? I had a pedicure once, is it anything to do with that?

Hello from a starting to cool down East Texas and welcome to the forum. Lots of great information and real good people here.

Thanks for the welcomes. I am looking forward to adding to the conversations where I can. So far I have been drilling through the topics to see what's going on and it looks like a lot of fun.

I think epicurean is a perfect description for us who are dedicated to the smoker gods...fond of or adapted to luxury or indulgence in sensual pleasures; having luxurious tastes or habits, especially in eating and drinking. :grilling_smilie:

Keep on keeping on!

Keep on keeping on!
If I like Bud Light, can I still be an epicurean?

Absolutely! Bud Light is nectar to the smoker gods! I would also suggest, while sipping the nectar and paying tribute near the alter of your smoker, to wear your best flip flops and show off that great pedicure you once got. Now that's what I'm talking about!
