Hello!  I'm a new smoker from the eastern side of Michigan.  I chose the name Trailin Gal because I have a bloodhound that is retired from Search and Rescue.  We made a fun team :)

We have a Masterbuilt 40" Electric smoker.  To date, we have smoked chuck roasts, beef short ribs and today we are smoking a brisket for Mother's Day.  Lord help me that it turns out! :)  I've read that brisket can be one of the harder meats to smoke but I feel like I'm getting a decent handle on my smoker and the concepts behind smoking in general.  I did throw a chuck roast in there just to be on the safe side!

Looking forward to the wealth of knowledge that seems to come from this forum!

Welcome to the forum, Trailin Gal.  I was born in Bay City, but I was so young when we left there about all I can remember is snow.

I also have an MES40 which I love. I hope you love yours too.

If you don't have an AMNPS you should read up on them. They are a match made in heaven for your smoker.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you're smoking.
