Miami Florida.
New here to the forum and really like it.
Have been smoking for a while and just graduated to a lang 84 (came in last night) was wondering how much wood consumption am I looking at. And comparing hickory with oak which one is milder in flavor been reading conflicting reports. Thank you.

and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is because their
are so many different ways to make great Q We all have our own taste.

Congratulations on your new pit. Oak os milder. A lot of stick burners, burn oak for heat.

then use hickory for flavor.

Welcome aboard!  You've found a great place for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask and someone here will have the answer.  Congrats on that new Lang!  Those are nice pits. I'll let the Lang owners field the question about wood consumption, but in my experience, oak is milder than hickory.
