Hi everyone! Really glad to have found this website and community, looking forward to learning and sharing with everyone.
I'm a transplant from Seattle, have lived in CA since 2005: eight years in L.A., going on two years in the Tri-Valley near SF and Oakland.
After cooking on a Weber 22.5" Gold for the last several years (steaks, alder-planked sockeye, chicken), I wanted to branch out into something new and picked up an 18.5" WSM a couple months ago. Adding it to the mix has made for a really fun summer. Thus far I've smoked three pork shoulders, a bone-in turkey breast, a couple tri-tips (Santa Maria-style over red oak), and am thinking about smoking my first brisket over Labor Day weekend.
For a while I was sharing pics of my grilling / smoking efforts on FB with family and friends, but after getting some good feedback I decided to start a blog focused on what's become something of a hobby - http://grillsmokebrew.com. One of these days I'll round things out with some home-brewing (as I'd really like to learn how to do that), but for now, it's all grilling and smoking experiences in my back yard.
Aside from all that, I'm a videogame industry support director in the Bay area, a US Navy vet, motorcyclist, LEGO freak, hiker, reader, writer, commuter, and most importantly husband and father.
