Hey guys and gals,

My name is Lewis. Im new to the smoking meat world.

I bought a Chargriller 9040 at a company sale for way less then retail. Anyway, Ive used it off and on for 3 months. Havent tried smoking anything tell today.

Anyway i have a lot to learn, and a lot of reading to do!

For the first time im trying to smoke a 5lb brisket. Hopefully it turns out good.

Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything   ......... Worked a time or two in Soda Springs

Thanks guys! I'm sure I'll be asking questions along the way.

So far the brisket seems to be doing really good. I started the smoker at 630 this morning. It seemed like it had a hard time getting up to 175 to 180. I put the meat on at 830 the temp dropped down to 135 and stayed there for a little over an hour, finally it started to climb back up. Last check about 10 mins ago the meat was at 130 degrees so got a long way to go still.
