I'm not new to smoking but I am new to this forum. I have had a Treager pellet grill for four years now and built a fridge smoker last year for smoking sausage. I decided to convert my fridge to a PID controlled one and that turned into building a new one all together.(of course)

So, I found this site and like the fridge and freezer section so much that I decided to join so I could share my build as I have got some great ideas from there.

Welcome..

This site has tons of info.

I suggest you spend some time reading all the different forums and the WIKIs.

Ask questions and use the handy dandy search tool for specific interests!!

Take the awesome free E-Course!!!

Have a great day!!!

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Thanks guys! I have pretty much only looked at the fridge/freezer section as that is my current project, but since I signed up I see that there is a lot of sections that look interesting to me so I will be reading a lot here. Nice site!

Just to give a little background, I have made quite a bit of summer sausage, pepper sticks, cheese, and some bacon, not to mention the normal smoking on the Treager.

I'm always looking for a better way and my last batch of bacon a couple of weeks ago finally got my wifes approval.

I raise my own beef, pork, and lamb, and I have a water cannon on order from Kirby to replace my 5lb Norhtern Tool vertical stuffer.

Welcome, Wyrman!  Please  let us look over your shoulder by sending photos of your smoking rig, build and your efforts.  We love the photos.  Enjoy, we will learn much from you and please take advantage of all the resources available.  GOOD LUCK!

to SMF - sounds like you have a fair amount of experience - looking forward to seeing your build

Welcome to SMF glad you can join us.  We are big on Pics and love to help everyone out.  Remember the only question that is dumb is one not asked.  You will not find a friendlier place to talk Que on the web.

You are going to fit in just fine.

Thank you everyone for the very friendly welcome. I worked on my cold smoke generator today and had to make a slight change to it.

It worked well for a little bit but then died down. I only get a one day weekend, and that's today so I really didn't have a lot of time to mess with it or take pics.

I have a long weekend next weekend so I will start a thread in the fridge/freezer smokers on my build.

There is a ton of really good info here on what I'm doing and that is my main reason for joining, so I can give back on what I learned from this site as a lurker.
